The sign doesn't feel or look right to me either.
I don't think intersex is a sexuality issue. Sexuality to me means sexual orientation or other things related to sexual desire and attraction. I don't think it's a gender issue either. Maybe it is a sex (as in biological sex) issue? But for what it's worth I have seen the "I" of intersex being added to the LGBTQ acronym. Is RAD LGBTQ or just gay?

@mkrajnak Good...good. "Modela"? Heh....with that name, anything goes! LOL...so anyway, that sign should be shot now and put out of misery. :P

@InsaneMisha LOL RID did not allow this to happen. This presenter from one organization asked RAD to come up with one sign. Actually it was one particular person "Modela" who came up with this sign. Hope that helps! :)

WTF with that sign?!?
Okay...I agree that has nothing to do with Gay nor Straight issues...it's only sexuality issues. I can't believe how can RID ask RAD to come up with that sign. It is wrong on many levels. They should refrain from coming up with sign. At least they should have some courtesy by finger-spelling it for time being until an intersexual Deaf person can help to come up with a sign.
I think we should tell RID not to use that sign for now. I don't like that kind of sign.
Snap, I get it now. At about 0:45, "feel" threw me for a loop and changed the definition of the rest of the vlog. I admit that I am not gay or a "intersex". It does seem odd that RAD took over the issue. It is obvious that RAD is not the authority speaker over intersex issues. WHY did they decide to speak for that group? I went over to wikipedia and looked up the term. Very interesting issue!

@spiderjumpify I understand that the sign "feel" threw you out of loop. I felt it wasn't justified because of RAD involvement. It doesn't look right to me. It is not our issue as you stated (you're right) but it is our duty to see to that the sign is justified by the community. I would do this for any organization who attempt to come up with ASL signs for specific words. Thanks for the comments! :)

Okay...are you a herma or an intersex? No? Then it is not your issue. Let them take care of it. It is up to them to expose themselves to the public and become accepted by society at large by educating others who are not part of their social group or social movement. We deafies get pissed at hearies who try to tell us deafies where our place in society is. Same issue, same old news with hermas or AKA intersex.

@spiderjumpify That's the POINT! I'm trying to make a point that the speaker who is hearing and signs...she works for a certain organization that is not gay-friendly. She taught the audience that the sign for intersex is what I demonstrated. Someone asked her where she get that sign from. The speaker replied RAD which doesn't make any sense. That's where the vlog came in. In fact one reader who is intersexed emailed me and thanked me for bringing this up. I'm encouraging others to come out

It is not YOUR sexuality issue. You know nothing about being a herma or inter. Why are you obsessing over it? Let THEM take care of it like deafies take care of ourselves.

@spiderjumpify It's not my issue. The sign for this is the ISSUE we have here and who determines the sign for it is something I cannot ignore. What I'm encouraging the public is to have intersexed community come up with the appropriate sign for this word. Capisce?
