I've been working on this design of airship for about ten years. The key to its speed is the ultra-streamlining, combined with modern RC equipment. See hyperblimp.com for more info.

  • is it the shape, or the fact that its lighter than usual because of no frame?

  • All my airships are the same density as air, or what I call Light As Air (as opposed to the misnomer, "LTA"). The streamlined shape reduces friction, so the ship slips through the air rather than pushing it aside.

  • This particular ship wasn't going full speed the whole time in this clip. But it does about 34 mph, analyzed on a frame by frame count, moving perpendicular to the camera, opened up. I've made over 500 ships with many variations in shape and components, and anticipate I'll have one doing 60 sometime this year.

  • Looks like someone took my condom and attached a propeller behind it.

  • I am going to show my age..THIS BLIMP IS TOTALLY BITCHEN!!

    There enough said.

  • Going into a wind the nose will just swing round all the time. TYo fly into wind youll need the engine at the front. Or in reverse!

  • the downside of this design is that the thinner and longer you make it, the more material it takes to encase, say, 1 cubic foot of air. Nice job though! whats the scale speed?

  • Wow very impressive! It flies and handles so beautifully. I've never seen a airship ascend so sharply. either. Very cool!

  • very interesting work. but my money would say that heavier than air has the advantage in more windy conditions. correct me if i'm wrong.

  • Dear All,

I have some questions about psychology:

    (1) Why do we love to fly RC Airship?

    (2) Why do we want to design new airship in this "jet-age"?

    (3) What is the enjoyment to fly RC airship than an RC aeroplane?

    (4) Why do we like to draw beautiful planting on airship?

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE for your creative ideas and brainstorm!!! :)

P.S. You airship fly really fast.

  • Wow! It looks like long flying condom with RC!))

    I like it!

  • What is the speed it? Here.

  • In what wind-speed range is it operable? Has it batteries or operates on sun-light? RC range?
