I don't really care about Sanford cheating on his wife: it's par for the course for politicians. What bugs me is when the media talks about how handsome he is. I'm not seeing it. It looks like someone beat on the left side of his nose with a dead-blow hammer. He looks older than his true age, and don't get me started on the bags under his eyes.

I am a native South Carolinian and nothing Sanford did should reflect on the state itself. And, I don't even judge him for his immoral behavior but what I do judge him about is that he TURNED OFF HIS CELL PHONE! Things happen. Bad things. And they can happen in seconds or minutes. He was AWOL from his post as governor of the state for DAYS! What if some crisis had happened? Yes, he has a Lt. Gov but that doesn't negate the seriousness of his being AWOL! Dump him!! His wife did - smart lady.

I was taking offense at gamecock pride's comments, wntoply6! Pay attention before you lash out at someone who is in fact in agreement with most of your own views. That said, every state has miscreant politicians and preachers. Ours make funnier news coverage because they misrepresent those of us who do actually read and don't marry relatives or have sex with horses by perpetuating a public perception of the state as illiterate hillbillies.
