A short vid (more to come soon) of the arrival and test run of a 7¼" model of the NS (Nederlandse Spoorwegen, Dutch Railways) 4014 at Stormpolder Model Railroad, Krimpen aan den IJssel, The Netherlands. The NS 4000 class were Swedish locos built by NOHAB and arrived together with the also NOHAB built 0-8-0 freight loco class NS 4700 after World War II, although already ordered during the war by the Dutch government in exile. The NS 4000 class was almost similar to the Swedish H3s class which had been constructed for the Bergslagernas Järnväg (Class A8 at SJ (Statens Järnvägar)). The NS 4700 class locos were almost similar to the Swedish M3b class which ran on the TGOJ-line.

The model of NS 4014 is like the original equiped with 3 cylinders and the axles have roller bearings.

  • Outstanding model engineering... particularly the valve gear...

  • Hey Thanks, although the model belongs to a friend. The valve gear is "just a normal Walschaerts" but it has a middle cilinder and valve gear. Will try to post some more detail shots of a previous video soon.

  • Wow cool :) a train like this a will have :)

  • Thanks for the kind reply and compliments!

  • Very nice!

  • @EdgarSmokey what is the whistle on this locomotive

  • Beautiful locomotive!

  • great looking engine!

  • Hey Edgar, It is interesting that many people with very ordinary, even boring, repetitisve jobs, have outstanding skills which they demonstrate in their hobbies. Folks who can rebuild motorcycles, make PCs, play in rock and jazz bands, construct extensions to their homes, and make fantastic models like this one.... often with no formal training, but with a lot of patience and ingenuity. Happiest place to be? In a shed making something! All homes should have sheds by the Law of the Land!

  • Too bad we didn't have such nice Swedisch engines in Germany!! Good video report, like to see that that the model is also fired with coal and operates like a full scale one!!
