This is the last video that my wife and I took of our kitten, Philo, whom we were forced to put to sleep early this morning.
A week ago, we learned that Philo had a relatively rare cat disease called feline infectious peritonitis (FIP) which is both incurable and fatal. He was just over six months old.
The disease usually forces the cat's body to slowly shut down, making them significantly less energetic than usual. Philo, however, had this sudden burst of playfulness on November 5, two days after his diagnosis. I was lucky enough to capture it on video; it was the last time he would be truly active before his passing.
Philo was a wonderful kitten, and even though he was not with us long, my wife and I loved him as though we had known him for years.
He is greatly missed, and we will always remember him.
