A documentary I did on the sectarian issue in Glasgow. The footage was ultimately distributed to Current Media TV. A more complete version can be found on Google Video and is hosted on several sites in relation to football rivalries and sectarianism.
I didn't get to speak to as many people as I'd hoped. I was stone walled by Celtic and Rangers and the Scottish Executive. I did it with Kevin McGonagle of Ultra Violet films on a zero budget and had to do all of the post production and editing myself.
I was quite happy with the outcome considering I was also working on an other short at the same time. Its not perfect by any means but I hope you enjoy it. Thanks to Bairds Bar and the Louden Tavern in Glasgow as well as the Orange Lodge of Scotland and the Catholic Archdiocese of Glasgow as well as the many fans from both sides who contributed. It was much appreciated.

  • @Caveej

The gentleman your referring to is the owner of the the popular Rangers pub 'The Louden Tavern' . You could pop in and see him when your next up in our beloved city but may I recommend you don't refer to him as a 'slopey lipped fag' or you may indeed experience sectarianism up close and very personal. Regards.

  • its in their fucking heads. drove around glasgow by parkhead and ibrox all day today, not a hint of sectarianism. it's in their smackhead heads.move to largs, its nice there. ENGLAND FOR THE ENGLISH!

  • @Caveej

If you are looking for sectarianism can I recommend

    A) Parkhead is where Celtic Park is but is not a Catholic area and indeed is right beside Bridgeton which is regarded as the heartland of traditional Glasgow Protestantism.

    B) Come back up when the football is and there are supporters of some of the teams about.

    C) Getting out of your car. It's difficult to 'experience' societies ills when moving around at 40 mph in a piece of steel with wheels and the radio on.

  • Of all the shit going on in Scotland(Knife/Gun crime,Drugs, social deprivation etc)and these politicians make a massive deal about Rangers/Celtic?1 word,CHANCERS.

  • @st3vi Times have certainly changed since I was at school, for the better, though admittedly I have not lived in Glasgow or Scotland for 20 years. There are children at my kids school from Asian families, they may be muslim, I dont know or care, its none of my business, a persons religion means nothing to me. I have always been of the opinion that religion is a personal and private thing. Anyway, been enjoyable debating with you without all the "orange this" or "fenian that" crap.

  • @haroldbhoy67 Times have not changed, i can give you real life examples of non catholic kids not being accepted by a RC secondary, even though the school was a stones throw from their house, how many is"many" what percentage of non catholics at your childrens schools are not muslim just out of curiosity? Yes, my tax funds royals and RC schools and i protest at both, i believe in secular government with no favoritism for ANY faith or privileged elite, be that from rome or buckingham palace.

  • @st3vi I went to school 30 years ago, times have changed. Its not a theory, its a fact. There are many non catholics at my childrens school. Whether you have an interest in the royals is irrelevant, your tax funds them and they are part and parcel of British society but not open to RC`s. I suspect you have probably voted at some time? any thoughts on RC`s being banned from being Prime Minister? Dark ages indeed? You are clearly interested enough to comment on the RC church? Have a good weekend.

  • @haroldbhoy67 In theory they are opened to all, in practice its a different story, what percentage of non-catholics went to your school? I'm glad you still have non catholic friends despite your brainwashing, maybe you are brighter than average

Yes, "Segregation is the cause of sectarianism" you seriously believe segregation breaks down sectarianism? Segregation and sectarianism go hand in hand.

I have as much interest in the royal family as i have in the Roman catholic church, get rid of both

  • @st3vi Not quite true, RC schools are open to all and are funded in part by the RC diocese. I grew up in the east end of Glasgow with many protestant/ Rangers supporting mates, many I am happy to say are still mates today. "Segregation is the cause of sectarianism" Really?, any thoughts on RC`s being banned from the highest office in the land or from marrying into the royal family? "Dark ages?" indeed.

  • Why is Racial Segregation considered bad yet Religious Segregation considered ok?

I'm certain that 90% of the punters in bairds bar went to Roman Catholic schools, primary and secondary, brainwashed from a young age, only mixing with other catholics, where do kids make friends? School...

This Segregation is the cause of Sectarianism. Scotland will continue to live in the dark ages and always have issues with Sectarianism until they stop funding Roman Catholic Schools.

  • catholics and prods will never see eye to eye up the contos fukkkkk the hun bastards

  • @iambeastLol HEY if its not any of your problems DONT open your mouth & if you do makes me THINK your part of the PROBLEM your all killing my country WITH YOUR BIGARTORY good message to send to your kids & what a role model you all are I am talking about both sides YOU make me ashamed

  • @Joe Blow,The current catholic population at present is around 12% of the population(of which i am part)and the problem exists simply and purely because of the demonization of the Catholic church centuaries gone which has unfortunately been carried on to this day.

It's not our fault and as a catholic it's not my problem
