House Speaker Hannah Pingree is on NoOn1 Payroll

Hannah Pingree, Maine House Speaker is a Paid Consultant to No on 1 campaign! The other day the No on Question 1 campaign held a press conference featuring Hannah Pingree. Jesse Connolly, campaign manager for the No on 1 campaign introduced Pingree to the media as follows:

"And now I want to introduce the Speaker of the House, Hannah Pingree."

Here's what Pingree told the media:

"What troubles me most is that the Yes on 1 campaign doesn't want to believe those of us in Maine who take our public service seriously."

Who trust politicians who are also paid for the cause they promote ?

It was a stirring performance by Speaker Pingree, who appeared before the media as an independent third party with no apparent ax to grind in the debate. Yet now we know just how deceptive Pingree, Connolly and the No on Question 1 are:

The most recent campaign report shows that No on 1 has paid Hannah Pingree $5,175.60 to serve as a consultant to their campaign! What hypocrisy! While Pingree is complaining that our campaign is not taking her public service seriously, she is getting paid to speak for the No on 1 campaign - and conveniently never mentioned that fact to the media!

While No on 1 apparently values Pingree's "service" at over $5,000, the damage to Mainers if her hypocrisy is allowed to stand is incalculable.

Again, how does this law redefine marriage for anybody else? it does not, in any way alter anybody's marriage previous to this law. All marriages before the law are still valid, are still binding...The law doesn't take anything away from you.

It is offensive, demagogic, and hypocritical to insist on "equal civil marriage rights for homosexuals," and undemocratically deny this so-called "right" to other groups who would, by logic, deserve this very same "right." Homosexualists must demand equal "civil marriage rights" for everyone across the board, including those who "love" and want to marry multiple partners, blood relatives, minors or even animals, or they must stop pretending they stand for equal "marriage rights" at all.
