I have recently been practicing a lot along with a metronome, and I find it really helps improve my time. Just set a metronome at a slow bpm, such as 63 bpm, and have it count out every other beat or even a whole bar per tick. I find it makes it a lot easier to play with other musicians once my time is more steady.

My hat goes off to you Geoff. I like how you keep the left hand out of the middle register so that your right hand can play like a tenor sax or perhaps the lower register of a trumpet. Oh, and the tempo is lovely. I find that playing relaxed can be harder than playing fast. Does that make sense? It's also nice to hear you talk and convey your zeal for this music to the audience.
