  • Brilliant. :)

  • Excellent video, it offers very interesting points of view of psychoanalysis and its fundamental part in modern psychology. Thank you for sharing it.

  • These guys are like the plumbers or electricians who repair the piping and wiring in a Nuclear Reactor. They help to keep it functioning, but understanding how it it works is beyond them, because in the subatomic world of Quantums it gets very complicated, murky, and a little scary, like the human mind; and taking a pill isn't going to help you figure it out one damn bit.

  • Clinicians have always hated Freud. This is all just part of Post Modern Structialism.

EVERYTHING is a STRUCTURE, and it can be mapped out scientifically, like a SCHEMATIC DIAGRAM.

So, a Sociopath really just has a chemical disorder in the brain, biochemists say; we're not exactly sure of the details, but a pill, or series of pills will surely cure it one day. But wait, say the Neurosurgeons, it might be a anatomical anomaly of the hypothalmus; we not sure of the details...yadda, yadda

  • "im gonna hold this rather phallic looking object" ha what a joker.

  • He is not been outdated, the fact is the psychologist don't know how to look at Freud's work', As far as one Knows none in psychology figures has gone into the the deep layers of unconscious as Freud have gone, so how can one possibly judge, either he was wrong , right or outdated. why i would say that psychologist doesn't know how to look at his work, because Freud did" map out" what is happening inwardly in relation to outward, not theorize it about it, only he name it, that is the difference

  • With all due respect to Freud and his influence in the last century his theories are so outdated now that they seem facetious nowadays. Do you not recognize that the world has moved on and proposed even better systems of knowledge which do not rely on esoteric fantasies? I really don't understand the American fixation on Freud.

  • This is such pathetic propaganda. I don't know the motivation behind their encomium but it seems that it is their work and they need some dupes, otherwise they're gonna to lose their jobs. And the genius of Freud lies in the way he writes, namely in an obfuscated way. No wonder then, than no one understood him correctly, maybe it was his goal.

  • Mr hulsey, liked lecture. You talk of peoples psychy being violent, disaster is not just that our nature is violenta, psychologists tell us we were violent as if we did not know that. Violence exists, disaster is that things are complicated so we dont manage to avoid this violence. Should we give the other cheek or do for attackers? King Arthur established goodies to do for baddies, Hannibal Lector finds faults in his victims, kills for moraliuty and he is not the only one. rose macaskie.

  • mr hulsey, what about what is Freuds attitude to middle class women instead of is it right to only study the psychology of middle class women, pretty varied? I have known some pretty negative attitudes to middle class women from apparently intelligent men. His inhibitions dont stop him dipping into their brains but he does not like being hugged by them, he minds them taking the active part. .He imposed giving up the sabbath dinner on his wife, dictator, rose macaskie
