When a church choir sings, the choir doesn't simply sing, the choir prays. "Gloria in Excelsis Deo" (Latin for "Glory to God in the Highest") is the hymn of Great Praise to God used in the Catholic Mass and Divine Services of the Anglican and Episcopal Church and many other Christian churches. The text of the song brings to mind the words said by the angels as part of the announcement of the birth of Jesus to the shepherds in the field. Luke 2:14. • To acthonic. I disagree with your statement that the Litany is a bore! Prayer is not a bore! Also, the YouTube counter indicates that almost 10,000 viewed the Great Litany video on this channel. So there must be many who like to experience this form of prayer! I realize not everyone is the same but we should not generalize our feelings and force them on others.

  • The Litany of the Saints is a crushing bore. All they do is name saints and then sing "Pray for us." It's great for Latin students, though. They can hear the vocative case and the imperative singular and plural of the four Latin conjugations. Anglicans aren't Protestants, and Pope John Paul XXIII said so, so either know your own church's policies or keep quiet.

  • @Afterburner350Z i think catholic hymns in latin are much better then anything any protestantants can put up not only that haved you listen to litany of the saints listen to it i wish we wouldnt sound like protestants

  • Beautiful! TY for sharing!

  • @Afterburner350Z JESUS NOT MORE THAN A MESENGER.

  • I'm Catholic and wish we sounded more like Anglicans, especially during the Gloria. BTW, I'm a former Anglican.
