Schopenhauer's thoughts on music set to a song I wrote inspired by Schopenhauer's philosophy of music. Schopenhauer's views on music have influenced many composers and song-writers, the most famous perhaps being Wagner.

  • Hmm, anyone got a good soundtrack to reading Schopenhauer?

  • @Mauser91 -- Beethoven was Schopenhauer's favorite composer, so I'd recommend his works, specifically his overtures, the odd-numbered symphonies, and the late string quartets. Although Wagner adored Schopenhauer and grounded his music on Schopenhauer's philosophy, Schopenhauer actually despised Wagner and thought he knew nothing of music. In the end, though, the best soundtrack for reading Schopenhauer remains silence.

  • Very good! Was the piano done with software or played on a keyboard?

  • @gromby -- thank you. it was done on a keyboard (yamaha psr-520).
