its not even a cover, its a snippet. bono does this all the time, slipping lyrics from other songs into U2's own, it wasnt supposed to be a full recreation of The Beatles song, just a spontaneous moment in the show.

who cares if it wasn't perfect? this is not a studio version for god's sake. this is a concert. he sang it as a tribute, and for fun. the mere fact that he sang it is what matters. it is called a gesture. and these kind of things can bring the performer and the audience even closer.
