We have a flexible tri pod we use for our camera, and I made a plexyglass mount that straps to the bungee, I used all thread and some misc. nuts and bolts. Check out our videos and if you want a pic of my mount let me know. cool video bro...

the ATC3K came with something like you described, small tripod with flexilegs. I just bought some velcro tape that I'll stick on to two of the kayaks and try again, this was just a last minute throw in my pocket and go.
Next is to take the cam on the new roller coaster at Silverwood.
