This is rare newsreel from 1954.
Divers from PRO (Polskie Ratownictwo Okretowe trans. Polish Ship Salvage) salvage the Seeburg , sunken in Baltic Sea, at the depth of 30-45 meters.
During WWII this ship was base for German submarines. It was sunk by magnetic sea mine.
Build in 1943 in Denmark;12812 t; 169,0×21,4×9,0 m, 14600 KM, ex. Adelaid Star.
No one wanted to rise the Seeburg, including famous Danish salvage firm 'Switzer', claiming that's impossible.
Socialistic Poland take it as a point of honor and try to salvage the wreck.
It takes 3 years, during summers, from June 1951 till June 1954.
The ship was successful raised in third attempt.
After that Seeburg back to active sailing under a new name Dzierzynski.
