@shorr2 I don't know the history of this song very well. There are many different theories. But this song is like a lullaby, a song sung to children before they sleep. "Hush, my darling. Dont fear, my darling." says the singer. Don't be afraid. "The lion sleeps tonight." If the lion is sleeping, then it is not looking to eat someone.
