the song "Lies" was also used in The President's Last Bang. honestly Lee is a great storyteller, but he made up his mind to "subtly" indict religion, not explore it the way history & prejudice were more ambiguous in his previous works. he may intend for Milyang to ask "how to overcome suffering" (Bergman had that down cold), but the results are closer to "how Jeon simulates/experiences suffering through her magnificent craft."

the acting is great!! u don't have to be a believer to get into it, it's a story about humanity, about the amt of burden that a human can carry to carry on living...
