Sometime in the late 90s I discovered Toronto's pawn shop strip and bought all sorts of old cameras, two of which were Super 8 cine cameras. I ended up shooting two rolls of Kodak Tri-X and one of Kodachrome between 1999 and 2001, but they sat undeveloped in a box for almost a decade. Developing and scanning the Tri-X was easy enough, but the Kodachrome needed to be sent to Dwayne's Photo in Arizona, the last lab in the world with the requisite chemicals, before they shut their Kodachrome operation down forever.

Of the 6:40 or so of black & white material, two minutes' worth was shot at night and is barely recognizable as anything. I did everything I could to bring up the contrast and brightness (including some automated Photoshop work on at least 3000 frames) but it's not great. I've tacked this dark stretch onto the end of the video after the spool of colour.
