Ernie Freeman started out doing session work before forming his own combo to release records. In 1957 he had a moster hit with his version of the Bill Justis tune Raunchy. He would later be part of the group B. Bumble and the Stingers while doing session work and arranging session for other musicians. In 1965 he found himself recording for Fred Astaire's Ava record label and he made a new arrangement for his old hit, produced by the legendary Joe Saraceno (the Marketts, etc). In this version he really kicks the tune up another notch and in my opinion is a better version than his original hit. This version, however, went nowhere on the charts and is all but forgotten about today. It's never been reissued on cd, and I have no idea who owns the Ava label masters these days. Enjoy!
great version, thank you for the info.

I like it! Still, nothing tops the Billy Vaughn version on Dot, in my opinion....
