Here is the review for the new TiVo HD XL. Some specs: It can record two HD programs simultaneously while playing back a third, previously recorded one; huge 1TB storage capacity; expandable storage; accepts cable TV and over-the-air signals; 30-second commercial skip; excellent user-friendly interface and remote; impressive Internet and home-networking features, including downloadable Amazon Unbox and TiVoCast videos, Rhapsody subscription music service, online scheduling, photo and music streaming; TiVo To Go transfers recordings to PCs and portable devices; able to download and view most standard digital video file formats from networked PCs (with premium Desktop Plus PC software).

  • Hey

    Wip of my ass!

1080i is not the same as 1080p

If it were, they wouldn't have letters seperating the two!

I had a Time Warner DVR that recorded in 1080p, and the picture was clearly superior to my Tivo HD's

The Tivo is smarter, but a 1080p TV conversion is the best you can get, not 1080i

  • Nice

tivo is a little box that lets u record any show u want as lont as its in ur network, it saves it to an internal harddrive and u can keep it as long as u want. u can also just watch tv

  • Me either, but I have used my LCD monitor (which does 1920x1080) as a TV using its HDMI with my cable box for a while now and I had seen 1080p movies before and the difference between 1080i and 1080p is noticeable.

  • oh. we dont even have a hd tv yet so i cant try it out. we have our sony from 2000. we are soon getting a plasma or lcd.

  • No, 1080i is interlaced and thus image quality is inferior...compare say a movie from HBOHD in 1080i, it looks really nice.

But then try to watch that movie on blu-ray (which display in 1080p) and you'll see the easily noticeable difference!
