In video mode, things look to soft without sharpening, and sharpening makes the video look more like video...
Why...with a $2600. body, excellent lenses..(I use zeiss converted...17-35 Vario sonnar and a zeiss 24-85 vario) and I need to sharpen. Why? With a full frame sensor, and 1080P, why do I need to sharpen with that kind of glass and this body? WHy can't the images be sharp without it?

nice video.. as a mk2 owner as well, this is where this camera really excels in my opinion. Close-up video is unbelievable and crisp and lifelike, however I am a bit dissapointed with the long shot video and wide open landscapes. People/objects that are moving on a standard wide shot look as though they are miniature, like some fairy tale. It's almost uncanny, and I am not certain why... other than that, the camera is great.

I can't say I know what you mean - I just recently shot some long distance landscape shots and was very impressed with the image quality - but this was with the newer firmware so it was possible to lock down the aperture, which maybe made a big difference.
