@AxeHomeless I don't agree with your assessment. I think he was consistent. He thrived on argument/conflict, and I suspect he took positions based more on the promise they provided of presenting him with a difficult debate, but he was never acting out of bitter arse-ish-ness.

Hitchens is a mean and disingenuous soul...and clearly enjoys being such. Like most of his ilk, he selectively uses facts and/or statistics to prove minor points on major issues. He's clearly an intellect, but it'd be nice to put him up against an equal...such as Bill Buckley. I think he'd be less smug in the presence of intellectual competition.
And don't get me going on Chris Mathews...clearly dropped on his head on numerous occasion.
Who else could come up with a sentence like that on George W?

THere are times hitchens is just bitter and an arse, but most of the time he is extrodinairily couragious and articulate, he is extremly smart and brave, he has a great sense for honesty and morality. One of the greatest men of our time.
