Use the new ubuntu 9.04 beta you will be fine... I tested on my ASUS Eee 701SD and ASUS Eee 1000H both works.

ubuntu 9.04 will work out of the box for the eee out of the box wifi!

Haha Carmen Electra.

Either download and run the eee script for ubuntu or just install ubuntu eee from the ubuntu-eee website - it sorts EVERYTHING out and has Netbook remix which is pretty awesome but if you wand the 3D cube desktop and Beryl/Compiz effects, you'll need to switch to a full desktop with the "desktop switcher" application or just remove the netbook widget. Wireless strength is actually the same as on Xandros but the signal strength indicator is calibrated to read the strength differently, that's all.

Dude... you're vid has inspired me to get a EEEpc and try that, too. Thanx man!

ermm could you please tell me how to??:(coz ive been trying for ages and im about to give up!
oh man i wish you knew before! you can get a version of ubuntu called eeebuntu which is already optimized for the eeepc. i have ubuntu on my desktop and i love it too, and it also took me forever to work around the bugs and install compiz, etc. it probably took me as long as you! im planning on buying the 8 or 8.9 inch eeepc when its available, and plan on installing eeexubuntu.

I already installed eeexubuntu and i thought it sucked there are still alot of bugs in it and also the interface isn't any better then xandros what comes on it. but thanks for the info and the cool comment.
