I've got a lot more stuff implemented now. I've still got a todo list as long as my arm but I'm finally getting there. You'll probably notice quite a bit of weirdness at this point. For starters, transparencies can effect other transparent surfaces badly (I need to make further away things render first), I've not got support for view aligned sprite billboards in there and there's still quite a few surface textures missing (mainly due to not implementing fillcolored faces yet - Edit: Done). Oh, and I've still not got slopes or animations done yet.
It may seem a bit laggy at the moment, but that's mainly down to using pixel shader based lighting on so many faces, when I switch pixel shaders off, you get a really high FPS. The level definition files actually have lighting predefined for surfaces, so I'll be able to move away from pixel shaders at some point, it should even be compatible with some pretty old PCs.
Still got some more stuff to do for the viewer stage of the project before figuring out how to make this thing into a game, so I don't see myself starting on that till a while after Christmas.

If it doesn't work, make sure that all of your DirectX components are updated (google DirectX Web Installer) and if in doubt read the readme, it's actually quite useful since I've spent very little time on the user experience...
