I remember this song he sang on tv from my childhood days.

grandad always spoke of him as a snake in the grass. Said he was very difficult and mucked up some careers of performers because they wouldn't kiss his ass.

Someone said I sounded 'better than Arthur Godfrey' at my last gig, so I had to check him out. Almost as good as my uke playing.

What a distinctive voice - great instrumentation on this version. "Hawaiian" music was a great introduction for the earliest guitar dominated pop songs.

The only version of, "The Thing" I can remember was recorded by Phil Harris. You'll find it on You Tube.
