We stayed there with well over 100 high school students only to discover blood stains on the walls, beds with no bed linens or blankets. This place was a crap hole. Good deal in New York always means "murder scene" kind of like our stay a few years later at Hotel Carter, another fine disgusting establishment that managed to win the dirtiest hotel award by many travel websites. Spend double the money and maintain your dignity and that of anyone you bring along. Stay away from these places.

I got what I thought was a great deal to stay a couple nights at the Hotel Pennsylvania several years ago (that is... until I checked in). The room, and in fact the entire floor I stayed on, was so musty and moldy and the whole atmosphere made me think I was in an out-take from The Shining. I don't know if they've cleaned it up since then, but I sincerely hope so. There's something about an old has-been hotel that just gives me the creeps. The phone on-hold played "Pensylvania 6-5000"!

...I spent a week there not so long ago, and I would definately NOT recommend staying there. It was awful. Wet carpets, dirty sheets, smelly, awful bathrooms, but the location is good!
