On June 1, 2011 Centro Presente coordinated a lobby day at the Massachusetts State House to educate Legislators about the negative impacts of ICE's Secure Communities program on the immigrant community and community policing efforts.

  • @clearlyclaire1 we have laws in the United States just like in other countries. If you are here without the proper documentation then yu are in this country illegaly. America does not owe the entire world a living. we need to place our military on the border with mexico so it become secur and then deport all undocumented aliens.

  • I was at this event and really enjoyed all of the speakers, who made me think about immigrant rights in a new way and see the urgency of defeating (in)Secure Communities here in Massachusetts. In response to the commenter below, I would like to say that people can never be ILLEGAL. "Undocumented" is the correct term. Whether documented or undocumented, immigrants and other people only want to work to support their families and give back to our community. What is wrong with that?

  • I don't understand how illegals can come here and tell us that we can't enforce laws that would keep American citizens safe. We will fight to have Safe Communities enforced all over this great nation. For someone to tell us we can not keep our communities safe by running finger prints by the way of ICE is just fucking insane!
