Project MedSCOPE, which stands for Medical Student Community Outreach for Prevention and Education, introduces Albany Medical College volunteers to the underserved in the Capital Region.
MedSCOPE links college volunteers with community shelters and clinics in the area. Volunteers also teach healthy living at local schools. To date, more than 1,700 students and staff have taken part in the program, which was introduced in 1991.
MVP Health Care recently gave $200,000 to Project MedSCOPE to encourage medical students and staff to help meet the health needs of low-income Albany residents.
