@crazydavedisco We went in an old 1999/V Mondeo Ghia X after owning a 1995/N Audi A4 for three years. All I can say is Mondeos are down there with the 406 and the Vectra. We noticed a huge downstep, rattly parcel shelf, everything inside moves and fidgets, is cracked/broken and the rear seating is up high against the roof. No seat height adjustment for the passenger the Mondeo was just total rubbish. It struck me as a typical American car to be honest. Absolute crap nothing German about it.

@larjanus The Mondeo is a Ford... What are you going to expect? A tank that lasts forever? Hardly. Fords carry a stigma for a reason, they have a bad reputation for making cars and it certainly shows.

@crazydavedisco Not being funny but you havn't had an Audi A4 to know what one is like to be able to comment. A Mondeo just does not compare with an A4 and if you had an Audi you'd know.

I love these old Topgears, I like the new one too but 1) I like older cars and 2) It's good to have a more serious less entertainment oriented version.

The very first day the Mondeo went on sale in Britain, I saw one ON FIRE on the Wraysbury roundabout at 10 am. It put me off them right from the start, and it wasn't until 2005 that I finally drove one, a huge 2.0 estate with an auto box. My first instincts were correct, it was fucking awful.

Love the way Clarkson thinks its dull to drive. In less than a year all the motoring press were raving about what a good drivers car it was. ??
