Wild emus become curious at my presence and come very close to the camera. This is an excerpt from one disc of the Carnarvon National Park Virtual Walkabout DVD set, Mt Moffatt Section in Centrel Queensland. For more information see www.virtualwalkabout.com.au

  • Hi R0DUN - thanks for your high praise in many of your comments to my videos. My relatives out west swear by the technique of laying on your back and peddling an invisible bycycle. I decided to test it (along with some emu impersonations) and yes they came from about 500 metres away to investigate me. It's hard to pan the camera while peddling on your back! :-)

  • I once heard that you can get emus to come close by acting silly. Is this true? I would have thought that they would be frightened away instead.
