Video of Redwings (Turdus Iliacus) feeding and fighting. If anyone can enlighten me, as to why they are fighting so much, I would appreciate it. They were most interesting to watch. During the recent snows, we had left food out for birds. About 3 or 4 dozens of these Redwings landed in the garden one of the days and started to feed. There has never been a redwing in our garden previously - so they must have been happy with what was on the menu! The first day, all was fairly peaceful between them, but after that, they became more aggressive with each other, which is what I have captured on video. There was plenty of food available, so, there was no need to be fighting over that, whatever their problems were. They were extremely noisy when fighing, which you will notice on the video soundtrack. Because there was so many of them, groups of them used to wait their turn in the surrounding trees, before coming down to feed - they were probably the pacifists! When the snow had gone three or four days later, the Redwings went also, and have not been seen since - and they didn't even leave a gratuity tip for service! Ungrateful.

Nice footage :) I can only imagine it is natural for them to fight for territory and rights to the food available, even though there is enough to go around. They will fight for the right, in case suddenly n day it is gone!
