The Great Britain II Railtour on April 11th saw 61994 The Great Marquess hauling a seven coach leg to the Kyle of Lochalsh from Inverness. On what was a good day of filming, we see the K4 in trouble on the climb from Fodderty Junction to Ravens Rock, and also skirting Loch Carron and few mile out of the Kyle.
Special thanks go to David and Peter Oldham for the trip up north.

I really hope there was not foul play with this. We so not get enough steam railtours up here in Scotland. Seven hours, great, thats great news for potential future tours.
To me, It looks deliberate. A total loss of traction like that is un usual to say the least. I could be wrong tho.

Flange greaser or not there seem to be a lot of UK videos on Youtube where the steam loco is handling the grade quite easily approaching the photographers and then inexplicabley loses and cannot regain traction even on a light throttle. Strange.

Holy shit, the train actually slips backwards a bit when it stalls!
Great to see steam on the Kyle line. It would also be great to have some freight back on the line.
Excellent film, well done.

A joy to watch but I suspect foul play with that wheel slip, something has to be awry to make it let go like that and then continue to struggle to get adhesion.
