  • It used to take real skill to do this. The title Disc Jockey needs to either be retired or used for those who only play on discs. Hard drives dont do jack with out the rest of the computer and u cant stick em on a platter and play music off of them if they aint in a computer. DJ was supposed to stand for disc jockey not DELL jockey. These controllers are fine but please dont call yourself an experienced dj if all youve ever done is learn to trigger cue points and loops via midi interface lol

  • @sandmarch7 i started on 1200s and an 06 over a decade ago.

  • @TCNcos Lol, "the answer"? I gave you three :D You feelin' well son? Or are you just so clairvoyant that you could know all that before it was stated? XD

  • @sandmarch7 Just the answer I expected. See ya, man.

  • @TCNcos also, heres one of websters definitions: a (1) : the ability to learn or understand or to deal with new or trying situations : reason; also : the skilled use of reason (2) : the ability to apply knowledge to manipulate one's environment or to think abstractly as measured by objective criteria :D :D <3

  • @TCNcos I believe what you mean is that its not relevant to the point youre attempting to argue. The criteria needed for one to meet the definition of what it is to be a "disc jockey" are in the term itself. The definition of intelligence depends on who you ask but in most cases refers to the ability of the creature in question to reason, problem solve, communicate, make use of abstract thought, self awareness and much more, again depending on to whom or where you inquire about it

  • Answer me one question, and I'll agree and walk away. What is the definition of "intelligence"? It is not a relevant word.

  • @TCNcos In the very essence of the term, not someones wishful misinterpretation of it, disc jockeys play music on discs. Sorry kid, that was written long before this message board. If the truth makes you mad, maybe you aught to figure out why that is :P

  • @TCNcos No, again youre just someone who hasnt read the original conversation. This was resolved long before you gathered your two cents. But as well, you are wrong. Anyone who calls themselves a "disc jockey" and has never used discs to play music but merely using the title to gain more appreciation or respect is in fact lying about what they do. You dont see people who use vinyl running about calling themselves controller jockeys for good reason.

  • @sandmarch7 DJing is about the music... not the hardware. It's people like you that say "IT'S NOT A RECORD! HE'S NOT A DJ" that gets rid of the true meaning of a DJ.

  • @DjFusion86 so where Id agree that beat mixing alone is simple enough, poor track selection and lack of intuition can still make anyone who can mix look like and sound like a noob. Reading a crowd is important but if your track selection and progression sucks no one will become interested enough to book you makng crowd reading a nonfactor. If you read back a ways I explain where the comment you read comes from.

  • @DjFusion86 You must have missed my point :P On top of being late to this party, I waspointing out that technically a "disc jockey" needs to use discs of the musical variety to be considered a "disc" jockey lol. Your comparison using writers isnt exactly valid when applied to this matter. I would add that if beatmixing is where the ball stops with you then technology is doing it all. On the other hand some DJs beat juggle, scratch and beat mash ontop of just beat mixing.
