This first part of the video places us where much of the residency took place, at Uarts (University of the Arts) on South Broad street in Philadelphia. You will also meet Neil Scobie, the turner from Australia, and Albert LeCoff, director of the Wood Turning Center.

  • what kinds of tools do you need to create the sculptures?

  • I made the film and didn't learn how to use the lathe and other tools myself. But to find out more about the tools and exactly how the works are made, there are a number of excellent videos on YouTube. Use the keyword/tag woodturning.

  • hi Neil, great to see you on the move in the states. very interesting turning being done, but so little time to express everything we have inside. many thanks, randy, maleny.

  • Thanks a lot. I have a lathe myself, but im really interested in creating these types of great, flowing shapes apart from the lathe.
