I present you SOFI. My first Leopard Gecko. It's a girl, about 5-6 months old I think. Someone told me it's a Super Hypo Tangerine Baldy, but I'm new at this kind of stuff, lol, so I don't know.
I had to clean out her moss cave, so I took the opportunity to shoot a clip. Let me know what you think.

  • @VinBlakeThe1st Yea, play sand or filter sand is best if you're to use it because of how fine it is.

And yup~ it is a SHTB for sure. If it had more orange on it's tail then it could be a carrot tail lol It kinda sucks it has to have 30%+ of the tail orange to have it considered a carrot tail. Best of luck with your leo.

  • @ContracterYin Thanx for the info, as I said before, I'm gonna change to some other substrate the 1st time I clean the tank. Someone told me to go for "play sand". I don't know yet, but I'll change it for sure.

Thanx for the advice, I appreciate it. And now I know what morph it is for sure. Super Hypo Tangerine Baldy. Sweet! Cheers.

  • @baninkgiendeen Ran out of characters.

A carrot tail must be 30% of the tail orange if not more.

  • @VinBlakeThe1st I should let you know, calcium sand is worse then normal sand, and jsut because they get calcium through powdering the crickets doesn't mean they won't eat it. Leo's are notorious for licking everything. Though, as you said, it's no problem in the meantime. Neara was on calcisand for... 4 months? before i found out it was bad. Though, I must agree with the other person to change sooner or later.

congrats on the new gecko. It is a super hypo tang, but not a carrot tail.

  • @dirtrider233 I knew someone was going to say that. Haha. First it's calcium sand. Second if your animal is healthy , it won't eat it. It gets enough calcium through powdering the cricketss. I may change the substrate the first time I'll clean the tank. but for now no problem. Thanx for caring though. Cheers.

  • sand is bad and can cause impaction which can lead to death. change the sand to tile or paper towel solid substrates!!!!
