US police arrested more than fifty Occupy Wall Street protesters on Saturday December 17th, as several hundred demonstrators gathered in Manhattan, New York to celebrate the Occupy Wall Street movement's third birthday.

As a former police officer, I have to say these thug cops need to be arrested and thrown into prison for doing this to the people they are suppose to be protecting

My problem with the story that they are thieves is the fact that the protesters are just standing there waiting for the police and I would think conspiracy to commit grand theft or even petty theft would make big network news with that many people involved. Did they actually attempt to steal or are they just accused of attempted theft by potential slanderers. Now let’s talk about slander oops, I mean libelous slander since it is written down.

That would be an actual crime.

@TruthatCearcie And therein lies the basic problem with your argument. You have a problem with the concept of private property apparently, which means that the people that own the property have the say over it. If they don't then it ceases to be theirs; it is stolen from them. It's actually a troubling concept that people would appear to be arguing against that.

@Beef1188 The problem with your argument is that this was not an isolated incident of a few people, but a consensus action voted on by OWS NYC. They announced they were going to do it days in advance. They published posters threatening it, and spoke to media about doing it. They asserted it was their right to do so, to re-occupy "our commons", essentially by fiat. I'm sorry if people can't see the problem with that.
