This is a brief demonstration of multitrack recording. I chose to use a song having four distinctly different melodies at the same time in the hopes that even those without musical training can hear the layering of harmony parts.
Starting at 3:39 you'll hear a "click track", then one part at a time being sung separately. This may sound boring to you, but you will be quite surprised when you hear the finished product with all the parts together at 9:02.

  • Awesome demonstration. What brand of multitracker do you use? What type of mic do you prefer? Do you do any funal editing on your computer or do you only use the stand-alone multitrack unit for madtering?

    Bravo John. Keep em coming!

  • @jon31245 The multitracker is a Korg D32XD (extended definition). I'm actually not a skilled technician on these machines. My skills lie in arranging of and singing the harmony parts. When I have a serious project I pay a studio to record me. It is great that we have the technology nowadays to instantly hear our arrangements through multitracking.

  • It's amazing how quickly you can bang out these songs. It's really cool to see the whole process.
