No, not the Michael Jackson joke. This piece was inspired by the Woody Allen film 'Sweet and Lowdown', which is the fanciful biography of a legendary jazz guitarist, Emmet Ray, I loved the version of this song so much that I figured out my own , based on what I remembered. All you jazz guitarists or wannabe jazz guitarists should watch the film. See what happens if, like me, you try to find more Emmet Ray on the web.

  • Antonio, if you'd bothered to read through to the end you'd realise that I know he's fictional. 'See what happens if, like me, you try to find more Emmet Ray on the web.' That's what was so good about the film - it was totally believable. I was trying not to spoil it for others. You've done that for everyone now though. Well done. Next time, read right to the end and try not to be such a smartarse.

Also, thanks for your kind comments about my playing. What a lovely person you must be.

  • Thank you for your comment, my friend. I had to look up 'rubato'. Great word and totally appropriate for my style. Try 'Ali Bongo's Bong' if you like a bit of rubato running! Cheers again.

  • jeez that is a nice take on a nice song. Always liked this one.

  • Thanks madchops. Always appreciated.

Incidentally, to all you budding percussionists reading this guff, you should check out this fella's site. Quite brilliant.

    Thanks again Bill.

  • Whoa, baby, is this ever good! Are you famous or something? Darn, man, this is fantastic!

  • Ha ha - only in my own head. Hey, I'm glad you liked it, Mr Hymns. Many thanks.
