Imagine spending your life defending the country you love, then losing everything, including a place to live, upon return. In Connecticut, as many as 2,800 veterans were homeless at one point in 2008. Many different agencies provide services for homeless veterans, but veterans in need often don't know they exist or are reluctant to ask for help. Fortunately, with the help of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, new collaborations are being formed to connect vets with housing and services that can help them lead independent, fulfilling lives.
