This is a gameplay video for the Atari ST game "Maziacs", which was originally written for the ZX Spectrum. Dietrich Raisin developed a public domain version of "Maziacs" for the Atari ST in 1987. It was written in Omikron Basic, which was the fastest Basic interpreter at that time. "Maziacs" itself was a remake of "Mazogs" from the Sinclair ZX81 (see other gameplay videos). The graphics of the Atari ST Maziacs is much better and more cartooney. It doesn't have any sound though. Sadly this game is pretty much forgotten nowadays.
This video shows me completing a big maze in about 6 minutes. The graphics are a bit slow, and so the controls are lagging behind a bit, which makes it a little harder to control the little guy.
The goal of this game is to find a chest of gold in a maze, while dodging or fighting huge spider-like creatures (the maziacs) with swords or bare hands. Each fight costs more or less health, which can be regained by collecting food. Prisoners in the maze can be freed and asked for the right way. To win the game you need to return the chest to the place where you started from.
