Mystery animal nocturnal screeching

Help me identify this sound--I've researched owls, red foxes, and raccoons, but none of the sound bytes closely resemble what I'm hearing. This takes place in IL in the summer between 2:00 and 4:00 AM. I tried shining a spotlight on the area it's coming from, saw nothing (& it's happening on someone else's private property, so I couldn't go any closer) but it sounds like it may be an animal at ground-level (vs. up in a tree). Help?

hey duude its the rabbi34. we heard this sound near our house in alamo. were in sort of a woddy area. we couldn't see. it was about 2 am. it might have been a barn owl though, but im not sure. where do you live? it might give me some clues. thanks!

im really not joking, i just heard this EXACT noise outside my house. if you ever find out what the hell that thing was please let me know. it was shaking the tree quite violently and i saw its bright yellow eyes when i shined my flashlight into the tree. it scared the hell out of me and i have no idea what this thing was.

@AMC3390 Someone who works in the animal control field told me he's sure the sound was from a raccoon. I've seen several in my neighborhood (including a mother and 3 babies just two days before the last time I heard this), so I think that's probably right. Sure is creepy.

in holland we dont have raccoons, and i hear it every night and i live near a forest, and i followed the sound and found a owl, and i found the same sound as this in vids of owl screem(ing)/screeching noise at night/dark

probaly something got a rabbit i use those kinda sounds to hunt predators

I've been hearing this same sound all night here in Southern Wisconsin. We live near woods. Scared the daylights out of me. I've never heard this sound before. It almost seemed like it had to be some kind of bird because the noise traveled so fast to different places. This went on for hours. Freaking me out!!

I herd that exact noise tonight I Could hear it with my window closed and then I opened my window and it scared the life out of me it made that noise and I'm on the second floor of my house and I saw it and I didn't get a good look at it but it ran into our garage and then it ran out very fast I'm guessing either a red fox or a raccoon
