@paulod27 For all of the 60s and 70s he was doing better roles but unfortunately the movies were not doing well at the box office. He only returned to playing Norman Bates in the 80s when, basically, he had no other options. It was a good performance, but Norman Bates is not a character than any actor would want to be known for.

wow, those screams....it's as if God entered the room!

It is a shame that the pilot for the series he did that he talked about (The Ghost Writer) was not picked up. I saw it here at youtube and it would have made a great show.

Arsenio Hall looks like badly drawn comic book character

What I love about Anthony Perkins is that he embraced his role as Norman Bates throughout his life rather than whining about being typecast. Robert Englund and other known horror icons have done the same things with their character's too.

I loved Arsenio back in the day but he was truly embarrassing here as an interviewer. He obviously never saw any of the Psycho films and has no knowledge of Perkins career but must for some reason have been interested in him or Perkins agent fought to get him on the show, which I find hard to believe as Arsenio was considered for younger hipper minority viewers at the time.

It may just be me, but I cringed everytime Arsenio said 'interesting'. Maybe do a little more research before the guest comes on...?
