You say the venue was a dump? It was the best place I ever saw them. How can you beat being right on the beach with a boardwalk and pier, camping on the beach with a Dead show in the afternoon! Priceless!!!! And I saw every Ventura show from 82 to 87 and they were all fantastic! And thank's man for posting these vids. Would love to see some other Ventura years.

85 as a great year for this Deadhead. Made more shows in that year than any other, here these 2 days at Ventura.

This venue was a dump but saw a couple good shows, thanks! Happy birthday Phil, wish Jerry could ride in your Ferrari with you around Marin.....
I believe it was the summer of '85 when the bumper stickers that read'Trouble ahead jerry's in red'' and ''The fat man melts''.The one drag about the summer of '85 was garcia's weight on most nights he needed help going up and down the steps to the stage. But when he walked out from behind his stack it was all business..Again as i go back over the setlists from'85 these cat's were in a groove. People trash '85 shows and to this day i have no idea why..Can someone shed light on this subject?

People just think the early to mid 80's are Garcia's dark drug years (and they were) and they just don't give the music a chance. My favorite years are '81 to '85 because they're ripping!

Is phil's bass just not plugged in or what ?

Why? I can totally hear Phil. He's doing the bright, walking bass line. I can't hear Bob's guitar though...(as usual)
