Bull Terrier Bruno..This happened in October, after we came back from our walk. He started reaching backwards oddly, & then the non-stop scratching came. The rash started on his lower extremities, then progressed past his chest to his face. It all spread so rapidly, I immediately bathed him with an oatmeal based shampoo & dried him completely. He never went to sleep that night, & in the morning I found that he had scratched himself to the point that he was bleeding in various places. From there I took him to the Veternarian who could not give an exact diagnosis. He really just agreed with what I had resourced the night before online. Either a pollen dermititis, flea dermititis, or some other exposure thatled to the outbreak. He prescribed a steroid injection, & a calamine-based shampoo. It all worked wonderfully. He slept for about 5 hours after the treatment, the rash left & has never resurfaced thankfully!
If he's still having the problem with the rash/Dermititis you can help with the discomfort. In a clean spray bottle add 1 part proxide to 2 parts water. Spray the dog at least twice a day until you notice a difference in the scratching. Then use once a day until the redness is gone. You can cut the spraying down to once a week and you might want to change his food to a sensitive skin dog food. Btw, great looking boy you have there. Good luck with the treatment, hope it helps.
