There IS a strong Steely Dan influence here, I hadn't been so aware of it before, and what an excellent outro by Jeff "Skunk" Baxter. A really good track from a strong album.

their best album by farr!!!

@ontariodoobfan He's the one who played the great guitar solo on "Hot Stuff" by Donna Summer.

@Spartanm333 Thank you! that is wonderful. I never knew all that.

@ontariodoobfan - yep I agree - when the Skunk brought Mike McD to the Doobs they were both very young - Mike about 22 and it was the real Golden period for me, despite Tommy's absence (nothing against the man at all). These too had been influenced heavily by the Dan and that is pure grain in music terms, single malt if you will. Mixed this in with the Doobs energy and rock and Mikes gospel blues / soul and it was dynamite... actually only lasted 4 years...... that is the great shame.
Skunk is amazing !!!!
Steely Dan and the Doobs were strong with him in the line up.
Long live the Doobies !!!

@biozamadotcom - it's the core of Mike McDonald and his songwriting.... he is deeply spiritual and a genuine guy. He was influenced by Donny Hathaway and Marvin Gaye who were the first (mainstream after Ray Charles) to wrap protest songs up in silk and lace. Very clever. Most of Mike's songs are actually prayers set to pop music - all through his career and albums. Ya Mo Be There, Blink of an Eye, All I Need (is hope), Peace, I'll Be Your Angel... it's all there if you look and see the light.
