Les Fradkin presents "Obsolete" from his 1st solo CD "Reality-The Rock Opera.

Written in 2003- long before the present crisis in America. This lyrically deep and truthful song tells all about the decline of America today. The loss of everything we value as we and our leaders discard everything dear to us. This video was recorded on location in Fairplay, Colorado at the now defunct Fairplay Hotel. Driven out of business by excessively high city taxes by a city council blind to their actions and the ramifications of shortsighted policies.
The whole town is on the verge of extinction.

Influences like Yes, Asia, The Moody Blues, ELO, Van Dyke Parks, The Beatles and Procol Harum make up the foundation of this very compelling CD of lush music and thought provoking lyrics. Progressive and Pop rock attains more than the art of the possible... Les Fradkin gives America a "reality check" with his conceptual album,"Reality-The Rock Opera".

Les plays all the instruments on this track and sings all the vocals as well. Featured in this video is his Epiphone John Lennon Revolution Casino Guitar Serial #24! One of a matched pair.

OBSOLETE
Words & Music by Les Fradkin & Loretta Fradkin

CHORUS:
Obsolete, their life felt so complete
And now they can't compete, Obsolete

Verse 1:
There's an old soda jerk, who now works as a clerk
A processor of words, not of sweets
There's a concert hall, that takes a wrecking ball
They'll be nothing left but silence in those seats!

Verse 2:
There's an old rock band
who played Dick Clark's Bnstand
Nobody buys their records anymore
I hear they're washing cars
They used to be big stars
The music changed and now they know the score

CHORUS (Repeat)

Verse 3:
Machines, they took his place
He's lost his only space
He's left without a trace, of what he owns
The customer support, is falling very short
It makes us want to never leave our homes

CHORUS (Repeat)

BRIDGE:
Ballparks, landmarks, bracelet charms,
Each one falls to change
Stocks and bonds, and old family farms
Even my own home on the range....

VERSE 4:
Well known secrets told, like gossip growing old
We've heard that there's escape to be found
Laying undisturbed, lies the town of Cedarburg
Reminder of those days of solid ground

BRIDGE 2:
Be careful what you wish for, your wishes might come true
Cause if yoiu don't wish hard enough,
The Axe might fall on you
Just because we've changed it, doesn't mean we should
I'd put it back the way it was,
If I only could...

VERSE 5:
There's a new recruit, who tries to wear a suit
We used to wear them every Sunday morn
Small paying jobs,
A CEO who robs
A disappearing world being born
A disappearing world being born

Obsolete, our life felt so complete
And now we can't compete, Obsolete!
