Recollections Of Nine Of Ireland's Bravest Veterans

In 1973, Kenneth Griffith, the renowned documentary maker, gathered together a group of veterans of the Irish Rising. Almost half a century after the terrible events they lived through, this highly diverse group - branded terrorists by the British in their youth and now highly respected citizens - gav etheir own vivid account of what it was like to live through thos turbulent times.

Reavealing, sometimes emotional, especially when reminiscing over old comrades who lost their lives in the struggle, and suprisingly conciliatory towards their Protestant countrymen, Courius Journey provides an important historic record for anyone interested in Irish history. It is also a powerful and heartfelt testament to nine brave men and women who risked their lives for their country.

  • what brave men and woman , proud Irish people fighting for the land they loved so much , we should all take a leaf from their book and show these oppressive bastards what Irish people with a goal can do !!! TAL

  • Glad to see someone with my last name in the video; we always wondered what part of Ireland My Grandfathers Family came from . My Great Uncle Pat Murphy ( GrandMothers Brother) of Waterford County Ireland was my only kin I knew of in the IRA . He was a Republican ! Proud that I am his Grand Nephew !

  • Very proud to be a Harling! Cheers for uploading!!

  • @Gerryforleader

The problem isn't and never was England or English people. It was and still is the ruling elites who have always been the problem. No English people ever voted for a politican who ran on the "let's shoot the Paddies" ticket.

The upper levels of the social and corporate strata is were all this comes from. I recently looked at some photos of kids in London during the same period of the Easter Rising and they were just as bad off as the poor in Dublin.

  • I am so glad I voted NO to the Lisbon Treaty. TWICE.

  • Míle buíochas duit - have been trying to locate this for a long time!

  • thank you so much,,,,great film

  • Yes it took the Welsh to make this wonderful archive.Thank you to thosewho made

it for those wonderful heroes would have gone unknown to their graves if it had been up to perfidious England ,and we would be even more deprived of our history than we already have been. What a monster is the English establishement

that they have not yet fully faced their terrible crimes against Ireland.

  • The time has come fellow Sovereigns around our planet on Our Lands to take back the lands and all rights we hold !
