Americans like "chunky" mashed potatoes, not the soupy variety that those seem to be. I found a blog entry from way back in 2006 referencing them in Singapore, so they aren't that new! According to it, they use freeze dried potatoes, not just powdered instant. Maggi is part of the Nestle Corporation from Switzerland. Seems to only be a Singapore thing. You should become the exclusive importer for the USA... ;-)
As for the consistency of the mashed potatoes, it LOOKS watery but solidifies quickly into about what you get at KFC -- they taste somewhat better than KFC mash.
How much does it cost for one?

Actually, as in the video description, we found this machine in Singapore. I've never seen one in the States...
