Most of the song is Dm7 - why I call it an easy song. So the root note is D and a chord is often played starting with the root note.
For the riff I then play either 'f natural' or f/g/f (the hummer? lol) because it fits with the key of Dm - and just because I like it.

BTW I just put steel strings on my guitar 3 days ago - can't believe I didn't do that sooner - plays and sounds so much better ;)
