My NDS lite with blown fuse. To turn on the DS lite without soldering a new fuse/bridging, etc., use an "R4DS III Upgrade".

Procedure:
- Slot in R4DS III Upgrade
- Take out battery (Optional)
- Plug in charger and AS SOON as the orange light brightens up, turn on the power switch. If first try didn't work, try it again until the green light stays on along with charging light. Flip open your DS lite and it is now functioning.

Problems: Won't be portable. Plugging off the charger would turn off the DS lite. Turning off the DS lite would result in re-doing the procedure. If you want to return to the menu from a game, use soft-reset, or turn off your DS. Tip: As soon as DS is turned off, turn it back on, and you won't have to re-do the procedure.

  • OK so a little help @KiakuNamako mine turns on using youre trick but the DS doesnt show my R4 card. any help?

  • @MyNoshin Most likely, your R4 card has contact issues. Wipe it clean and try it again. If it still doesn't work, then I'm afraid that your R4 card can't be recognized anymore.

  • if only that would work for me.

ive tried that but it doesn't do anything

    also

i think r4ds sucks, m3i is much better!!!! grrrr

  • @jairtzinio

It's R4DS III Upgrade that'll work, not the original R4DS flashcart.

  • @ FlowStudioAnimation

Sorry-- I don't have a DSi, so I can't clarify for you, but I believe that the r4i won't work because I don't think it'll substitute the fuse for the DS lite. You don't NEED to take out the battery for it to work. Whether or not you want to, it's your decision.

  • For clarification, R4DS (original) does NOT work. I've tried it. The flash-cart I used in this video is an "R4DS III", which is a clone. Somehow, this flash-cart acts as the fuse for the NDS lite.

  • My DS lite (Light green) Won't Charge!!! I plug it in, but the orange light doesn't turn on and my DS stays on red light! WHAT DO I DO?!?

  • it doesnt work

  • Sweet trick! I would've never thought of that.

  • @canadianbrewer That is called a R4.

  • This has no tricks... you'll see. The Nintendo DS, DS Lite, DSi have some fussiles (is those called like that??)

Anyway... they have 4 fussiles. Two of them are in charge to bring energy to the screens that make's them "on" and the other ones, are in charge of anything else, like Wireless antena, buttons, etc.

So, you dont need the whole battery to make it work. Just they need the charger, cuz the electricity pass through the fussiles, and the fussiles pass the energy to the whole system.

  • 1:04 dsi menu when ds lite?

  • very nice

  • do you need an R4?

  • I HAVE THAT MARIO CART!
