A short video of trains calling at South Ealing London Underground station during the evening rush hour.

Nowadays this station is only served by the Piccadily Line, although there was a time when District Line trains came here too.

This station features four tracks and although the eastbound track formerly used by the District Line trains is now only used for test trains (ie: not in passenger service) both westbound tracks are still used as it helps regularise the service further back along the line - and means that trains terminating at the next station (Northfields) and going into the depot can be emptied of passengers without delaying other trains continuing further down the line to Heathrow Airport.

In this video we see two westbound trains.

  • What year is this ? 80's?

  • @SiannaMarie143

I bought the camcorder in December 1989, so anytime after that, but I dont remember exactly when.

  • If Chris tucker or Jackie Chan would'of walked of the tube, then i would of understood why you called it rush hour! but there's no one there!!!!!

  • @swat006007

but this is a suburban station and in the evenings passengers travel TO here, so between trains it will look empty!

  • I use to live like 3 streets away from this station back in 79

  • I much prefer the old white and red livery. Especially on the D stock. Disappointed that it was replaced.

  • Havent you got a home to go to??

  • @SiannaMarie143 Looks far better without loads of sign and CCTV pollution back then unlike now

  • @Arriva2010 the next stop also has two platforms and is less than 200 yards away form south ealing. one of the trains terminates there

  • aaah... the joy of being crammed in on a heathrow tube and to get to south ealing for hardly anyone getting off...

  • This was shot around 1993-94, right?

  • wie geil....das war unsere "heimat tube station" beim letzten london urlaub :=))))
